The interest in sports betting continues to grow, but many people still don’t know very much about it. They may know how to place a bet, but don’t know where to find the information that helps them to make the best decisions. On the other hand there are bettors who do their betting with a sportsbook and have that information at their fingertips. The best sportsbook will do more than just give the betting lines and odds. The best sportsbook will make recommendations based on the best and most current information available.

Betting Quotes…

Whether it is baseball, basketball, football, or some other sport the best sportsbook will base its recommendations on all of the factors that may affect the outcome of a sporting event. The best sportsbook will look at more than just the records of the teams involved. It will take into consideration such factors as injuries to key players, distractions to team members both off and on the field and the overall strength of the teams involved in a game.

If you place your bets through a best sportsbook you know you’re doing so based on the best up to date odds and information. This allows you to have the best chance of winning and after all isn’t winning what sports betting is all about? If you want to just bet on your favorite team every time they play you’ll win some of the time, but that’s probably not going to mean you come out ahead in the long run. With the right information and recommendations from a sportsbook you can dramatically increase your odds of making some real money with sports betting.

10 Tips for Sports Gambling
by Shane Rivers

1) Be Careful of Scams – Be extremely careful if sports books are calling you and offering gambling packages over the phone. This is a good way to get scammed, especially if they ask you for your credit card number. If possible, it is a good idea to do business with a sports book that will not contact you over the phone about promotional offers or bonuses. This makes it easier to weed out scam artists.

2) Know the Rules – If you plan to open a sports book account online, it is a very good idea to read all the rules. In fact, I would advise you to read them twice. Less reputable books will try to stick it to you in the fine print. It is also a good idea to make sure sports books have multiple avenues for correspondence.

3) Shop for Numbers – Different sports books will often offer different numbers on different sports. This can make a huge difference when it comes time to place your bet. While a league like the NFL will often have similar lines at most books, other sports like NCAA, MLB, and the NBA will often vary. Since books usually adjust the lines according to the betting patterns of their customers, you can sometimes find up to a two or three point difference on the lines. A couple of points difference can often be the difference between winning and losing a bet, so take the time to look around.

4) Shop for Odds – For those of you who like to bet on parlays and teasers, you know that there’s a lot of money to be made on such wagers. But did you know that many books have different odds? These variations can translate into a huge difference on your payout, so it will serve you well to shop around and find the best odds.

5) Find a Niche – The sports books have to attempt to keep up with every sport. In some cases, this can mean that certain less popular sporting events or games are only given minimal attention. As a bettor, you do not have this disadvantage. In fact, it would serve you well to find a niche and study it exhaustively. Take sports like boxing and mixed martial arts, for example. The books have to concentrate on NCAA football and the NFL, but they may not pay as close attention to these events. Use this to your advantage. If you know more about what is going on than the bookmaker, then you are in a prime position to place a winning bet.

6) Know Your Sports Book – Find out about a sports book’s reputation before you place a bet with them (or before you give them your credit card information). If you’re not sure, then ask questions. You can even find betting forums on the Internet and get opinions there. Remember, when it comes to a book’s reputation, there are no stupid questions.

7) Trust Your Instincts – If the book you’re using is making you uncomfortable or something doesn’t feel right, then choose another. There are too many books out there to use one which makes you feel uneasy.

Bet at the Right Time – Professional bettors often tend to bet on underdogs, and they almost always bet on them early. Less skilled gamblers will often bet closer to the start of a sporting event, and they are prone to bet on the favorites. If you choose to bet on a favorite, it’s a good idea to place your bet early in the week when the pros are betting on the underdogs. If you want to bet on an underdog, then it’s a good idea to bet as late as possible, when the suckers are betting on the favorites. This doesn’t work all the time, but it can be a useful rule of thumb.

9) Protect Your Account – If you maintain an online sports book account, change your password occasionally and write it down. There’s no point in taking an unnecessary risk.

10) Be Realistic – If a bonus sounds too good to be true, it probably is. When betting on sports, it’s important to keep a realistic mindset. Looking to get something for nothing will usually cost you in the long run.

How About a Free Sportsbook?
by Anthony LeMaire

How nice would it be as a gambler to get a free sportsbook? A sportsbook is the ultimate aid when it comes to gambling. Gambling can be a very tricky and daunting task, especially for beginners. Without some sort of aid, the entire process and situation may seem difficult to navigate, difficult to understand, and far from possible to win at. With all those numbers, how do you know what you are looking at? Or worse, without those numbers in front of you, how do you know what is worth betting on and how each team compares to the others in a lineup?

Sometimes gamblers and players can get a free sportsbook, and when that happens it is a very momentous occasion. It is this way because a free sportsbook is like getting free detailed and important information about a specific event or list of events that would help gamblers out tremendously. A free sportsbook is an amazing thing, this means access to free betting lines, free odds, and free displays of specific and need information.

Betting Quotes…

Gamblers should always be aware of what they are gambling on and how the situation looks to them. One of the easiest ways to go about this is to have a very easily comprised list of all the pertinent information laid out before the person who needs to see it. This is what a free sportsbook would offer the reader – all of this free information, which is so desperately needed for any gambler to make a well informed bet.

13 NBA Betting Tips
by Joseph Mattern

It’s October, and that means that basketball is right around the corner. Here are some NBA betting tips to help you win your wagers throughout the NBA season.
1. Look for reasons to bet against the public teams. Certain teams always get treated like champions even when they don’t play like champions. The Lakers are a prime example of this theory. Yes, Kobe is a great player, but one great player isn’t enough of a reason to pay a premium when wagering

2. Play the over/under for value. The totals wager is one where you can really get some value if you do your homework. Look for high scoring teams at home, teams with good shooting percentages and teams that make a lot of threes. And, of course, look for teams that don’t play defense. Be careful with the overs early in the season, though, until the shooters really hit their stride and the defenses soften up.

3. Take a look at the player prop bets. This is another place to find some value, especially with a superstar player getting an unusually high or low number. Check the player’s average stats per game, and then take a look at how he has done against individual teams in the past. Make sure to be confident in your pick however, because these wagers come with inflated juice.

4. Don’t forget about futures bets before the season begins. If you have a good line on how you think a team will fare, don’t be afraid to lay some wood on it. Make sure you bet money that you don’t mind having tied up for the duration of the season.

Betting Quotes…

5. Do your homework. Scour injury reports, study the box scores, watch as many games as you can and read the relevant websites, including the sites of the local papers of the teams you are following. Being a winning gambler is about exploiting tiny edges, and so the more you know, the more it may help you. Use caution though, because the people who set the lines will probably have even more information than you do.

6. Specialize. Pick a couple of teams that you can devote some time to follow closely, and a particular type of bet that you feel comfortable with, and try to get an advantage in this way. Keep it simple.

7. Consider the halftime lines. Watch the first half of a game that you’re wagering on, see what’s going on, who’s hot, who’s in foul trouble, etc., then check the second-half lines, and wager from a position of strength, if you feel that you are getting good value on your bet.

8. Always shop around for the best lines. The Internet makes this easy to do. Open a few accounts and do not overpay for a wager. A point here or there may not seem like much, but over the long term, it’s absolutely huge.

9. Be responsible. Don’t bet money you can’t afford to lose, and be sure to employ the principles of sound money management. Use a percentage of bankroll system whereby you bet the same small percentage of your total bankroll (say 1 percent) on each individual wager. This protects your downside while increasing the amount of your wagers as your bankroll grows.

10. The most important decision you make as a gambler may be deciding which games NOT to bet on. Part of the advantage that you have as an individual gambler is the ability to pick and choose which games you want to bet on, and which ones to pass on.

11. The new ball being introduced this year may not make a lot of difference one way or another, but pay close attention to the scoring, especially early in the season, when there may be some value to be gained with the unders.

12. Focus on match-ups when picking sides, position by position. Also, take a look at a team’s recent performance, and for instance, where it is on a road trip. If an east-coast team is at the end of a long road trip out west, they may be looking ahead to the trip home and not play as well as the other factors would suggest.

13. Pace yourself. The NBA is a marathon, not a sprint. Remember, it’s a long season, and there will be ups and downs. Try to go with the flow, and learn as much as you can as the season progresses. Hopefully, by the end, you will be up.

Well, hopefully you are a little more prepared for the NBA season. Eighty-two games from now, you will have another year under your belt. But for now, have fun and good luck, and remember, it’s only a game.

College Basketball Betting
by Sebastien Veilleux

It’s all about March Madness. The rush of excitement. The thrill of victory. The crushing agony of defeat. However, first teams must play out a full season before being selected. In the grand scheme of things, only a handful of the college teams are selected to the big dance. Most get there by winning their conference or the championship tournament for their conference. I bring this up, because it’s important to know. A successful sports bettor needs to know what teams are motivated and what teams are just going through the motions.

It would be a grave mistake to assume that a team with an average record is playing for nothing. Many teams play hard throughout the season, because they have a shot at the NCAA tournament even if they are low in the conference. Another fallacy that kills sports bettors is betting NCAA basketball like it’s the NBA. You have to remember that NCAA basketball is comprised of young adults, typically 18-21. Most don’t possess the ability to perform at a high level, to think under pressure and to rise to the occasion against all odds.

While colleges fill their basketball teams with the best talent they have available, that does not mean the team will have even one really good player. Some programs out there are just plain bad. Only a small sample of players at the college level will be drafted by the NBA. Most are just street balers going through their college years. College basketball players are more susceptible to emotional swings than NBA players. For this reason, you must pay attention to any recent news and events swirling around the team.

For those that don’t already know, college basketball works on the spread system. For example, let’s say you have UCLA playing at Duke and Duke is -8. You have two options. You can take Duke and lay the 8 points, which means Duke must win by more than 8 for you to win—8 is a tie and only wins on some parlay cards. Your other option is to take UCLA and the 8 points. As long as UCLA win or does not lose by more than 7, you win. If they lose by 8, you tie.

College basketball betting also features the totals line. Not every game played will have a totals line at every sports book. The totals line is the total number of points scored by both participants at an event. For example, if the totals line was 130, you could bet the over or the under. Take the over and you want both teams to combine for 130 or more points. Take the under and you want both teams to combine for 130 or fewer points. Totals lines in college basketball can be both profitable and tricky at the same time.

College basketball can be extremely profitable. To be a long-term winner, it’s important that you not only understand the game of basketball, but the college scene as well. Spend time looking for news and information about the team and players. Is there a scandal at the school? Did the team just come off of a miracle win? Events can swing college basketball greatly. Players are more apt to be swung by emotions. Good luck on the hardwood.

Betting Trends
by Bryan Leonard
I like match-ups and situational handicapping. This includes such things as strengths against weaknesses, bad lines, homecoming and revenge spots. I’m not big into betting trends. Trends can be dangerous. Some novice sports bettors think, “This team has lost 3 straight against the number, that means they’re more likely to cover this game.” Well, you had better have more reasons on your side to back a team than just something like that.

For instance, Fresno State went into the Hawaii game two weeks ago as a home dog. Fresno hadn’t covered since late last season. Anyone who looks at trends might think that Fresno HAS to cover this game, as they are due for a cover. Well that kind of simplistic thinking doesn’t cut it in the competitive world of sports handicapping.

For the record, Fresno got bombed again, 68-37 as a +3 home dog. That made them 0-6 against the spread this season. All right, so maybe the next game they will cover, right? Now they are REALLY due! Well the due factor is still going strong as Fresno failed to cover again, this time as a +31 dog at La Tech, a 38-6 defeat. OK, so they are getting close, but try telling that to the man at the betting window while you wave a losing ticket in his face. It ain’t gonna cut it!

I would suggest focusing more on match-ups and such things as home/road play, and current play, rather than to look at a trend. For instance, on Sunday in the NFL I had a play on the visiting Atlanta Falcons at Cincinnati. In my analysis I noted, “This game all comes down to who rules in the trenches. Atlanta owns a league leading 6.1 yards per rush, while second place is a distant 5.2 with the Eagles. Simply put the Falcons run the ball on everyone.

They have surpassed 220 rushing yards in 4 of 6 games. Cincinnati on the other hand allows 4.6 yards per carry, well above the league average of 4.0. Therefore I expect the Falcons to control the clock and have great success moving the football. Cincinnati is thought to have an explosive offense, but this year that isn’t the case. The Bengals are averaging 5.1 yards per play, right in line with a league wide 5.1 ypp average. Atlanta comes in at 5.5 yards per play on offense.

The Bengals have really fallen on hard times offensively as of late. In the last three games they have scored 17, 13 and 13 points. What makes these numbers even stranger is that Carson Palmer hasn’t been picked off in any of the last three games. In fact, they only have two total turnovers in those games. So it’s not like mistakes are keeping them out of the end zone.” Atlanta has the personnel to give the Bengal offense trouble, and they should have a big day running the football.” Cincy not only covered but won the game.
See what I was looking at? First, see what I wasn’t looking at: No trends! Second, I examined how the Bengals have been playing of late, the mismatch on the ground that favored the visitors, and public perception that Cincy is an explosive offense. Cold, hard facts, to me, are more important than any wagering trend or the “overdue factor.”

Betting Quotes… <?php randomize(quotes); ?>

That’s the catch for trend bettors: WHEN will this trend happen? It’s impossible to say based solely on the overdue trend factor. Successful sports handicapping encompasses so many factors. It’s much wiser to look at as many factors as possible, such as home field, weather, playing surface, coaching, strength versus weaknesses and revenge spots. Winning ATS is about sifting through all the pieces and finding several edges in a game, not just one angle.

Sports betting is a general activity to predict sports results by making a wager on the outcome of a particular sporting event. The general acceptance and legality of sports betting tips varies from one country to another, more so than the other forms of gambling. For example, in North America sports gambling is generally forbidden, while in several European countries, the profession of accepting sports wagers (bookmaking) is highly regulated, but not criminalized. Legalized sports betting proponents regard this betting as a hobby for sports fans that increases their interest for a particular sporting event, thus benefiting the teams, leagues, and players they place their bets on, and through higher television audiences and attendances. The people who oppose sports betting feel that this threatens the integrity of professional and amateur sport.

Previously, sports betting was associated with unsavory bookie elements and was held in ill repute, largely due to the undirected legal treatment given to it. It was notorious for being used by organized crime for their funding and money laundering purposes. But today, it has become a popular hobby among many Americans. This form of betting is experiencing a new upswing due to the advances in technology and the advent of the Internet. Sports betting is still not legal in the United States. There are many reputable sites that do not permit Americans to wager, and it is becoming progressively harder to govern the betting activities of US citizens.

Sports betting is no longer limited to the clutches of unsavory bookies or the back rooms of smoky establishments. A wide variety of options are available for people who are interested in this form of betting. It is of growing interest in Las Vegas. As an alternative, you can find various websites that will welcome your money and will give you the option to place it on proposition bets, future wagers or parlays. The ability to bet has been revolutionized by the Internet, along with the ability to communicate with like-minded bettors. There are several sports betting forums that offer a platform where bettors can discuss their predictions of various games, and help one another to decide on profitable bets. There are sites where inexperienced bettors can get tips and previews of upcoming events, for a fee or for free.

In order to make profits from your betting, make sure that you get the best sports betting tips and odds. It does not matter what you are betting on, what matters is that the house is going to be sure to come out on top. Billion dollar casinos are not built by winner’s money. The best odds for bettors is the likelihood of getting a return of eight to ten dollars for every hundred dollars they bet over a long period of time. While seeking the best sports betting odds, the one key factor to remember is that the best sports bookmakers and odds are not one and the same thing. Sports betting odds are just numbers, which can also be identified by examining the money lines on the various sports books online. The simplest way to understand the computing of odds and how the money line bet works, you need to consider the amount of money you will have to bet for winning one hundred dollars.

Over the years, online sports betting has become very popular, and nowadays you can make a wager on any type of sporting event. If it is a hobby for you, then there are chances that you may have winning streaks and losing streaks. Look at these experiences in a non-emotional and objective manner. Betting on any sports event is similar to gambling, but it requires knowledge about the odds. If you are swept away by excitement, then you will probably make an overconfident decision. Look at losing a bet as a learning experience, because it will surely help you in your future bets. Listen to your instincts because there are chances that your losing streaks will make you a better sports gambler in the future. Use the best sports betting tips in your favor and make a good income!
